    India's freedom struggle and the Communist party of India

    The booklet defines the coming of the British and other Europeans as the first invasion of India, and that the starting point of India’s slavery was the defeat of Nawab Sirajuddaullah’s forces in the Battle of Plassey (1757), and argues that the working class and its party, the Communist Party of India (CPI) made an immense contribution to India’s independence. It has three chapters: Colonial exploitation of India; Resistance to colonial rule and the development of the national-liberation struggle; and the Role of the CPI in the freedom struggle.

    British troops in India and holding the Burma front against the Japanese have been suffering badly from disease and poor organization, and have apparently been forgotten. The booklet is a summary of the speech Dange, Shripad Amrit gave to the Trade Union Group of Members of the House of Commons on 5 December 1944 about the situation in India.     Report regarding Representative Character of the All-India Trade Union Congress and the Indian Federation of Labour 1946

    This interim report was commissioned by order from the Labour Department (No. LC. 28(1), dated 2nd May 1946) to find out whether the All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) or the Indian Federation of Labour (IFL) was most representative of workers in India. The most representative organization of workers need to be identified under article 389 of the Treaty of Versailles. It concludes that the AITUC is increasingly becoming more representative from almost every point of view and that Indian Federation of Labour is gradually losing on that score. It also includes state-by-state membership numbers; a note on unions in the mining industry in Bihar.
