Economic growth of India and labour unrest
(All-India Trade Union Congress, 1974) Raza Ali
The report is a breakdown of economic growth/stagnation in the Indian economy, with national growth estimated at less than two percent for the years 1971, 1972 and 1973. The report compares economic growth over time and across industries and the public and private sector. It includes a number of tables: Earnings, wages and productivity (1949-1964); Rise in worker earnings and prices; Branch-wise employment in state and private sectors (1961, 1972); Labour unrest and industrial disputes, resolutions, and days lost.

Inter-structural developments in the Indian Economy
(All-India Trade Union Congress, 1974) Raza Ali
As premier, Nehru decided on a planned economy of two sectors: a public sector to deal with heavys and basic industries and a private sector to deal with other industries. However, as there was no clear dividing line, a third sector – the joint sector – emerged. Raza Ali argues that the joint sector favours the private rather than the public sector, but that this should change to serve the national objectives. To do this, an integrated approach to the problems of economic growth and equitable distribution is needed. The book is designed to help guide Indian economics in finding a way out of the crisis (1974).
