Abstract:
The schemes and programmes designed for the tribals, fail to reach the targeted tribal people chiefly due to the low literacy rate among the community. In the tribal community, the girl children are more likely to be susceptible to drop out from school education than tribal boy children. The researcher has been seeking to unpack and evaluate the strands of demand and supply side of the education for tribal girls to evaluate the mismatch. To ensure that the tribal women have equal access to the education, it is necessary that the reforms shall be taken in the both supply and demand side. Although there has been increase in the enrolment by the tribal women in the recent past, the disparity among the tribals and the non-stream population stares at us. Therefore, this thesis attempts to analyse the reason behind the disparities in the educational status of tribal women and the non-tribal in a holistic manner. The researcher attempts to suggest some policy remedies to grapple with the issue at large.
