dc.description.abstractToday, India is at the crossroads of an exciting and challenging period in the Indian History. The economic development in India has gained momentum over the last few decades, but the health system is found to be at the cross-roads. Even though the Government initiatives in Public Health have recorded some noteworthy successes over time, the Indian Health System is Ranked 118 among 191 WHO member countries on the overall health Performance. In India, healthcare is found to be one of the largest service sectors and the Infant and Maternal Mortality Rates are considered as the major health outcome indicators. But, as the health care is determined by the quality of Health Care service delivery system being provided, the health care service delivery plays a critical role and has a vast impact in determining health of a state‟s population and affects the major health outcome indicators. Providing proper health care to each and every individual is of utmost importance as everyone has the right to live life healthy and without illness. On recognizing the importance of the Good Health in the changing pattern of the social and economic development and also improving the quality of life of the Citizens, this paper entails with the study of analysing the quality of health care service delivery across different High Priority and Non- High Priority States. The paper also examines the trends of Public Health Expenditure in the terms of Revenue and Capital Expenditure across selected Indian States with a period from 2005-06 to 2013-14 and the impact of Infrastructure, Human Resources and Public Health spending on the major health outcomes indicators.en_US
