This paper examines the profound influence of urban mobility policies on the spatial configuration of public spaces in Tier 2 cities, focusing on case studies from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Mysuru. Through an analysis of transportation networks, land use planning, and design choices, we explore how these policies shape density, land use patterns, design elements, and public transport infrastructure, fundamentally altering the fabric of urban landscapes. The implementation of policies such as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) encourages higher-density development around transit hubs, fostering compact, mixed-use neighborhoods and promoting sustainable modes of transport. Additionally, land use policies play a pivotal role in shaping the urban landscape by promoting mixed-use development and efficient land utilization. Design choices, guided by mobility policies, dictate the layout of streets, pedestrian infrastructure, and green spaces, enriching the spatial experience and liveability of urban areas. Public transport infrastructure shapes accessibility and efficiency in public spaces, with investments in public transit networks promoting inclusive and sustainable mobility options. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, displacement of vulnerable populations, and inequitable distribution of benefits underscore the need for a holistic approach to urban planning. Recommendations include adopting an integrated policy approach, prioritizing inclusivity-oriented planning, and fostering community engagement and participation. By addressing these challenges and harnessing opportunities, Tier 2 cities can realize their full potential as vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive urban centers in the 21st century.en_US
