dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Education does not mean only bookish knowledge but much more than that. Basically education is overall development of human being. The present paper is broadly an attempt to trace two aspects of education in India firstly to trace the development of education in India from the period of Vedas to the status of education in the present scenario. The second part is after finding 86th the present scenario and recent development of the education i.e. amendment of the constitution which makes right to education a fundamental right and the new Act the right of children to free and compulsory education Act, 2009. Then task is to critically analyze the act and find out the loopholes of the act. The Journey of education to become from an ordinary right to a fundamental right and then coming of new right to education act was not so easy. The paper is focusing on the step by step development of education in India along with the judicial decisions.en_US
