The National Commission on Labour appointed the Study Group on Productivity and Incentives in its attempt to assess the application and results of productivity and incentive schemes in industries in India and to understand the basic problems connected with the introduction of such schemes. This was one of the series of Study Groups set up by the Commission for covering different areas of its terms of reference.
