    over a hundred letters by individuals and from trade unions in the Indian Railways in the mid 1970s, many handwritten; some written to members of parliament and the Minister of Railways, to NCCRS and AIRF, and from AIRF dealing with loss of employment, conditions of temporary workers, planning of industrial action and the national convention of Railwaymen, post 1974 railway strike situation, facing disciplinary actions by Railway' management, harassment, transfer of workers, dealing with day to day trade union organisational matters, description and information on organisation of sit-ins, processions, meetings, 'Demands Week', putting up of posters, workers wearing badges; One letter is Marked 'Relief Fund Bulletin' giving details of contributions; letters with excerpts from News reports; another one makes mention of the 'Strike News Bulletin'

    Detailed report of proceedings of the AITA executive committee meeting which goes into internal organisational matters and its participation in the NCCRS. The report goes into detail of the 8 point demands (Job evaluation and classification, senoirity, decasualisation, etc) raised by NCCRS for the railwaymen, are dicussed with comments and suggestions.

    This file contains notifications dated 1974 and letters from trade unions; one notification by AIRMSA is dated 1969 and refers to its note of dissent regarding Pen Down Strike by the Secretarial Staff. There is an undated note from NCCRS which makes mention of a one and half year long sectional struggle of the railwaymen -- the running staff (motormen, Drivers) that has prepared ground and created confidence for a wider struggle. This file also contains a government document marked 'secret' written by a senior bureaucrat C.V. Narasimhan in the ministry of home affairs (government of India) asking state governments to take preventive action against the imminent threat of the railway strike in May 1974.

    Minutes of Zonal Committee Meeting of the NCCRS (E. Railway) held in December 1974; meeting chaired by convener Bimal Dey. Among issues discussed are: list of employees removed from service or facing court cases for sabotage and violence so that action be taken for them; invitation to joining organisational activities of Eastern Railwaymen's union; Organise mass meetings; Members of zonal committee to go to Mugalsarai to probe functioning of the NCCRS.; minutes of fund committee and grants approved to units.
