Abstract
The study identifies what the necessary precursors to a startup ecosystem may be and how they are actualized within the city of Chennai. It further engages in gaining multiple stakeholder perspectives on six broad areas within an ecosystem (a) Identification, Connect & Sustain, (b) Train, (c) Fund, (d) Celebrate, (e) Policy and finally (f) Inclusivity. The larger outcome of the study informs in the requirements and gaps within the ecosystem currently and expectations derived from the various stakeholders in informing the policy to be framed. The derived policy expectations broadly surrounded the idea of strengthening of the support systems, enabling extensive network creation, development of an Open Innovations Initiative and widening the identification of inclusivity within the domain of startup policy.
